Henry MOODY was born c. 1848 in "Ft. Gibson, indian country West Of The Arkansas". He died 1885 in Sebastian Co., AR. Henry married Zylpha ROGERS on 1871 in Fort Smith, AR.

Birth: divined from age on census reports as 1848/49.  Once census shows "near Ft. Gibson, Indian Country west of the Arkansas"  Another shows Missouri.

Henry Moody was an orphan and lived on the dairy farm of the Pelleys in Massard.  The Pelleys took to his children and grandchildren, and I heard a great deal about the Pelleys from my gt. aunts and grandfather.

He died when a wagonload of firewood overturned on him.  Zylpha Moody then married Walter Gardner.

Zylpha ROGERS [Parents] was born 16 Dec 1855 in Neosho, MO. She died 18 Jun 1936 in Massard, AR and was buried 19 Jun 1936 in Barling Cemetery, Barling, AR. Zylpha married Henry MOODY on 1871 in Fort Smith, AR.

Zylpha Rogers-Moody Gardner lived until 1935 and I heard many stories about her from my mother, my grandfather (Henry L Moody), and my great aunts.  When Walter Moody died and Mattie Moody remarried, grandmother Gardner ceased to have much to do with the family.  

Her father was John Rogers.  I know nothing of him, but my grandfather and great aunts spoke of him many times.  He was apparently still living in 1904 when Walter Moody died because they said he was at the funeral.  

There is a gravesite at Oak Cemetery marked John Rogers.  Although he died in 1848, several of my older relatives insisted that that was the gravesite of Zylpha's father.  They also were quite insistent that he was the John Rogers who founded Fort Smith.  It is not possible.

I was talking about that to my grandfather, and he suddenly said that his great grandfather lived in Westville, OK.  There were John Rogerses there at the right time, but I can't find any details to connect them to this John Rogers.

Isaac Lafayette LONGWITH [Parents] "Fate" was born 25 Jan 1842 in Athens, McMinn Co., TN. He died 20 Oct 1919 in Lincoln, AR and was buried in White Rock Cem., Washington Cty, AR. Fate married Angeline PASCHAL on 9 Jan 1867 in Purdy, McNairy County, TN.

Angeline PASCHAL [Parents] was born 18 May 1848 in (Purdy), McNairy County, TN. She died 18 Nov 1935 in Lincoln, AR from Kidney Failure and was buried 19 Nov 1935 in White Rock Cem., Washington Cty, AR. Angeline married Isaac Lafayette LONGWITH on 9 Jan 1867 in Purdy, McNairy County, TN.

Walter H GARDNER was born c. 1840. He died Dec 1916 in Fort Smith, AR. Walter married Zylpha ROGERS on 1888 in Sebastian Co., AR.

b. 1816-20.  My great-grandmother, Mattie Longwith Harrison used to tell that her grandfather (this William) hid in the barn to avoid the confederate soldiers.  They found him and pressed him into service and they never saw him again.  I have some evidence of truth in this story, but cannot document anything.

Nancy BARNES was born 1822 ?. She married William PASCHAL on 1840.

Reubin LONGWITH [Parents] was born in NC. He died 30 Jan 1852 in Athens, McMinn Co., TN. Reubin married Tabitha HARDEN on 1830.

Tabitha HARDEN was born 3 Feb 1815. She died 27 May 1896 in Charleston, TN. Tabitha married Reubin LONGWITH on 1830.

Reuben LONGWITH [Parents] died < 1829. He married Nancy HATHCOCK on 8 Sep 1796 in Warren Cty, NC.
